Don’t forget steps! And helping a newcomer, the best reminder that we don’t want to go back to where they are.

I like this framing that we are always using tools. If we are not consciously choosing the right tools, our habits will do this for us.

Yes I like how you phrased it - "If we are not consciously choosing the right tools, our habits will do this for us." That sums it up perfectly 👌🏼

Great stuff Shane. I especially love the reality of the gradual replacing of the original tool (alcohol) which doesn’t - in my experience - magically vanish in a magic wand “poof”. After so many years of reaching for it, usually without giving the reaching any thought at all, doing it differently takes time and practice and intention Identifying tools, listening to others’ experience with the tools, practicing (so love how you break this down) using the tools. Such an incremental thing … so not an on/off switch. Switching out the old and learning to use the new tools. 💪🏼💕

I like how you put that - "Such an incremental thing … so not an on/off switch. Switching out the old and learning to use the new tools." Took me a minute to figure out I had to remove the old tools. Always appreciate your feedback 💯

And some of the old tools, especially the primary one (alcohol) do NOT go easily and they keep trying to weasel their way back into the toolbox 🧰 - unable to comprehend that “No” is in fact what I mean and it’s my final answer!
